About Adriana

Adriana González is a Senior Advisor on Psychosocial Support with the Latin American Institute for Peace and Security.

Adriana is a nurse from the National University of Colombia and holds a Master’s degree in Systemic Analysis Applied to Society from the University of Chile, where she graduated with highest distinction. She brings over 15 years of multidisciplinary experience in the design, implementation, applied research, and monitoring of strategies to promote public health and well-being, with a particular focus on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for victims of Colombia’s armed conflict and communities engaged in peacebuilding processes.

She has served on technical, training, and emotional care teams at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, facilitating dialogue and engagement among civil society, government institutions, and NGOs, and contributing to the development of national public policy guidelines.

Since 2018, she has deepened her practice in body–mind approaches to well-being and conflict transformation. She is a certified Shiatsu therapist (Japanese therapeutic massage) and an experienced practitioner of Vipassana meditation, Tai Chi Chuan, and Movimiento Vital Expresivo.

Her approach to social transformation is rooted in understanding the intersection between individual and collective well-being, fostering participatory leadership, appreciative inquiry, and mediation, and applying differential and culturally sensitive approaches to strengthen individual and institutional capacities and design locally grounded strategies for social change.

A passionate lover of literature, theater, and conscious movement practices, she integrates creativity and empathy into her work to promote human development and collective healing.
