About the event
The Latin American Institute for Peace and Security (ILAPS) held a specialized workshop with the Courses of Advanced Military Studies (CAEM) to reflect on the risks and opportunities posed by the use of artificial intelligence in contexts of armed conflict. The session began with the presentation of the objectives of the JusTech Standard, an international reference framework for the responsible use of emerging technologies in defense and security. Subsequently, recent case studies in scenarios such as Ukraine, Gaza, and the Red Sea Region were analyzed, and specific risks in the context of the Colombian armed conflict were discussed. The workshop also included proposals to mitigate risks derived from these technologies, among them a military doctrine initiative for Colombia presented by Lieutenant Colonel Milena Realpe, as well as international lessons shared by global experts.
